It’s a great feeling to be the on the Bubble
For many hundreds of thousands of people throughout the World, playing Texas Holdem Poker online has become their favorite pass time.
You don’t need to pass any entrance examinations to play Texas Holdem online (although you certainly need to be aged eighteen and over) but it would do no harm for any novice player to practice as a guest player in their favourite online poker room, as well as take the time to learn all the terminology that is part and parcel of the Texas Holdem Poker scene.
Table poker in its earliest forms had a lot of its own terminology, and when Texas Holdem Poker arrived on the scene, many more expressions were added to the list. Yet there was no greater catalyst that added to the Texas HoldEM poker vocabulary than online play and especially surrounding the many knock-out tournaments being organised online.
Amongst the most favoured expressions is being “in the bubble” Being in the bubble can be compared with being in the cut at a major golf tournament, In other the player has made it to the latter stages of the tournament and the chances of walking away with some prize money or at least getting their entry fee back has just shot up.
In an average Texas Holdem online tournament, around twenty percent of the contestants remaining get to stay in the bubble, and the rest have sadly seen their bubble burst.
For example, a tournament with 500 entrants will usually see around 100 players left inside the bubble, and those knocked out already taking part in the next tournament.
As players are eliminated and the bubble begins to close, players who are sure that they are inside will begin to play much more conservatively to preserve their chips tack for the next stage. On the other hand competitors who are in danger of being eliminated will be often seen to risks, calculated or otherwise to stay in the tournament.
Of the last twenty percent remaining, four out of five of them will be happy to walk away with their entry fee back. As more players are eliminated those remaining in the tournament know that there prize money is going up. When the final table stage is reached, the seven or eight players sitting at it will know their best and worst case scenarios as far as prize money is concerned.
Obviously every player at the final table of a Texas Holdem tournament online or otherwise will want to win the first prize and will be fighting all the way.
